Recent Insti Exploits

I. Welcome Srinivasa:
In an attempt to buy a new bicycle, I along with my friend Sagar trod along the narrow but thickly congested streets of Velachery. After being utterly disappointed by the high price mentioned by the shopkeeper for a Photon cycle (Rs. 3600), we decided to make the evening more enjoyable.
So we stopped at a Vodafone shop, purchased a top-up and also asked the shopkeeper about good restaurants in the area. "Vijaynagar. 1km from here. Good taste," was his reply and so we again trod along the narrow but thickly congested streets of Velachery -- this time we walked on the right side of the road and thereby were more peaceful. We were very happy realizing that we had actually applied some of the knowledge gained in school !!
Thus we came across "Welcome Srinivasa", a "High Class Veg Restaurant". True to its banner, it was a pleasantly cheap and pretty descent place to eat. Especially, the Tomato Utthapam was very strangely prepared and although it was very sour, we savored it...
On our way back from Velachery gate to hostel, as can be expected, we didn't get a bus and therefore had to walk. On that wide but very thinly congested road, we were making strategies of how-to-protect-ourselves-if-someone-tries-to-mug-us. The discussion moved on to nostalgic days of high-school and both of us were equally happy to admit that we were really stupid at that time. Finally, stopping a bus very rudely near the Dept. of Chemistry, we safely reached our hostel where the awesome chase of Chennai Superkings powered by Raina and Albie provided for a perfect dessert.

II. Chat with Sutanu's TA:
Aah!! Even as I was approaching the slim-and-fair TA of Sutanu Sir, he started smiling broadly -- almost laughing. I am sure he must have expected the obvious question from me -- "When are we getting our grades?" -- because he very promptly replied, "I don't know." Here is the full conversation:-

Me: Sir, when are we getting our grades?
TA: I don't know. The prof is out of town for quite some days now. I don't know when he'll come back.
Me: But are the papers at least corrected?
TA: He is out of town. I don't think so. The grades are supposed to be put up on the net, isn't it?
Me: Yeah, supposed to be but they are not there.
TA: Ok. I don't have any idea. I don't know what he is up to.
Me: Ok. Thank you.

Hearing the last sentence, I was left speechless -- figuratively, of course. I just hope he has at least corrected the Quiz 2 papers otherwise we may not get to know our 4th sem gpa before the 5th sem starts !!
